Create Jobs

With our national economy struggling, the stakes in the upcoming elections are high. In 2008, America elected a President with no experience in business and no ability to lead us out of this crisis. We’ve learned that we need people serving us who have first-hand experience working hard in the “real world.”  Ed Thompson is running for State Representative to ensure Texas continues setting the standard for job creation in America. Ed has successfully run a local business since 1982, and knows that the private sector creates jobs, not government. As our State Representative, Ed will fight for low taxes and sensible regulations that will help businesses keep people on the job.

Stop Illegal Immigration

Like so many households across Texas, State government had to tighten its belt and cut spending in order to balance the budget. More budget shortfalls are right around the corner.  We simply cannot afford to pay welfare benefits or in-state college tuition for illegal immigrants anymore.

It’s literally costing taxpayers billions that we can no longer afford. Ed supports eliminating these incentives that are attracting more illegal immigration and favors imposing tougher penalties for businesses that knowingly hire illegal immigrants.

Balanced Budgets & Fiscal Responsibility

With our economy still unstable, it’s imperative that those we elect to office approach future government budgets from the standpoint of “no new taxes” and “no more debt.” The State of Texas has been more responsible than most states in how it has treated our tax dollars, but we need to do more. As our next State Representative, Ed Thompson will vote to cap government spending and, where possible, aggressively pay down government debt. As local families fight to control expenses and debt, our government should do the same.

Pro-Gun and Pro-Life

Ed is 100% pro-gun and 100% pro-life.

Improve Public Education

As a former School Board member, Ed understands the problems facing our schools. And as a former Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce, he knows that providing the highest quality education for our children and young adults is critical to a strong economy. Unfortunately, state government has taken too much control over how this system is funded and what is being taught in the classroom.  Ed knows the solution is more local control. As our State Representative, Ed will work to return the decision-making power to the people who know our children the best, our local parents, teachers and principals.
