About Ed

When Ed Thompson came to Pearland thirty years ago, it was a small town on the outskirts of Houston. Although the area has grown by leaps and bounds, it’s still a tight-knit community grounded in conservative values. And Ed Thompson is one of the people working hard and giving back to make it even better.
Although many know Ed as their local State Farm Insurance agent, he has a long record of dedication to his community. Most recently, Ed served as Mayor Pro-Tem of Pearland, where he fought for good policies that help local families and businesses thrive. He has helped implement a pro-job creation environment here as Past Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Past President of the Economic Development Corporation. And he worked to ensure the best quality education,
while preparing for rapid population growth within the ISD, during his time on the Pearland ISD Board of Trustees.
Ed is a principled business and family man who knows that if we want to preserve our way of life, we need good leaders who will get in the game. As a high school football referee for the past thirty-nine years, Ed knows a little something about this. He also knows that even when you make the right decision, it is not always the popular decision. But you still have to do what’s right.

Ed is a dedicated husband and father to his wife Freddie and his two children and four grandchildren. The family attends Sagemont Church. They love our community and its citizens. Ed will be our voice in the State Legislature and will fight to protect what we’ve worked so hard to build.
