Ed Thompson Files to Run in Texas House District 29

November 28, 2011

Pearland Mayor Pro-Tem, Ed Thompson, announced his campaign for Texas House of Representatives District 29 in mid-September.  Today, Thompson made his bid for higher office official by filing to be on the ballot in 2012 as a Republican.

Thompson, who has been a small businessman in Pearland for nearly 30 years, is campaigning hard and earning the support of voters throughout the district.

Regarding his candidacy, Thompson said, “In order to bolster our economy, we need to create jobs, reject mandates from Washington, and reduce government’s role in our lives.  As a dedicated businessman, I have the real-world experience that will allow me to produce results for our region.  Together, we will advance the conservative principles that will allow Texas to lead our nation out of these tough economic times.”

In addition to serving as Mayor Pro-Tem of Pearland, Thompson is past President of the Pearland Economic Development Corporation, past Chairman of the Pearland Chamber of Commerce and former member of the Pearland ISD School Board.

He is now in his 39th year of officiating football games in Texas. Thompson and his wife Frederica have two children and four grandchildren.
